While Cambodia may be most famous for the Angkor Temples at Siem Reap, there is lots more to explore in this endlessly fascinating country. This comprehensive tour starts in Phnom Penh, Cambodia
Upon arrival in Phnom Penh, you will be privately transferred between the airport and your hotel by a professional driver and an English-speaking guide.
Today, with your private guide visit the city’s oldest and tallest religious structure, the Wat Phnom. Then continue the Royal Palace, built in 1866 under King Norodom for a glimpse of Khmer architecture. You will also visit the Silver Pagoda – named after its floors, which it’s designed with 5000 silver tiles. 60% of the pagoda’s contact was destroyed under Pol Pot’s regime, but what remains is utterly spectacular. After the palace, wonder in the National Museum and seek its huge collection of fine Khmer sculptures and artifacts, recovered from ancient Angkor Empire. You’ll then, learn about Cambodia’s devastating history, visiting the notorious Tuol Sleng Prison.

This morning, your journey continues on to Siem Reap (Angkor) as you fly to Siem Reap for a one-night stay at the Golden Temple Retreat, the closest hotel to the treasures of the fabled archaeological site at Angkor, covering an area twice the size of Manhattan. You’ll be dazzled by what you see this afternoon at the vast, 12th-century Angkor Wat temple; the bas-reliefs and many devatas (guardian spirits) that cover its walls inspire awe and admiration. This example of classical Khmer architecture has been a significant religious center for Hindus and then Buddhists through the ages. The most famous part of the park is, of course, Angkor Wat, known to visitors around the world. Finish the tour with a peaceful sunset at Srah Srang, as shades of violets, oranges, and pinks spread across the sky.

Today your private guide and driver, will show you a full day of historical adventures, as you’re being whisked away to see the breathtaking architecture and natural setting of one of the most important archaeological sites in South-East Asia. As you approach the park, you will first see the South Gate of Angkor Thom. A walk along a half a mile trail past the walls that lead to a hidden temple is optional, but your guide will definitely ensure that you see the amazing temple areas of Bayon, Baphoun and Phimeanakas, as well as the Terrace of Elephants and Leper King.
Next, you’ll head over to the grey-stoned jungle temple of Ta Phrom. Here you enter a mysterious world, as tree stumps seem to grow out of the temple and roots crawl up its walls. For many people this is the highlight of Angkor.
Take a break and have lunch back in town and this afternoon, if you wish, join us for a cruise on Tonle Sap Lake, revealing fascinating floating villages.
The tour will end today around 3:30 or 5pm you’ll then transfer to Siem Reap airport or to your hotel.
