Overview of Angkor Botanical Garden

Angkor Botanical Garden (សួនរុក្ខជាតិអង្គរ), previously known as the Angkor Spice Garden, has been undergoing upgrades for some time and is now open to the public. The 14-hectare site is educational and relaxing featuring local traditional medicinal plants & spices, flowers, palm garden, Khmer inspirational garden, and Angkor forest garden.

On an area of more than 15 hectares under the support and initiative of His Excellency CHEA Sophara, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction “Angkor Botanical Garden »This has been expanded and improved with more than 500 species of plants and flowers and tens of thousands of trees waiting to welcome visitors from all over direction. This Park is divided into 5 large gardens with different features, including: -Grocery and Medicinal Garden: There are various medicinal plants and herbs for cooking. -Garden, grass and mixed flowers: Seasonal flowers and grass. – Palm Garden: There are palm trees, palm oil. -Khmer Garden: There are many kinds of fruit plants and small fields. -Angkor Forest and Wildlife Park: There are luxury trees, wildlife and livestock. This Park will be a new place of relaxation and relaxation in the Angkor zone area and also a place to explore. About many species of plants, flowers and wildlife.

At the northern end, in the forest garden area, there is also an area for turtles, peacocks, and wild chickens, plus you can also let the kids feed the fish, rabbits, and birds in this area.

There are also loads of selfie opportunities, plenty of seating around the garden area in places, and amenities including toilets. The plants are labeled so, there’s also much to learn, and many might find the medicinal garden interesting on that point.

Time-wise, you can easily spend ninety minutes or more exploring plus there is an on-site restaurant and cafe in the center of the garden.

Opening Hours

It is now open to the public from 7.30 am to 5 pm, closed on Mondays.

It is located along the way to Angkor Archeological Park at corner of Benoit Street and Charles De Gaulle with the entrance on Charles De Gaulle opposite. Google Map >

Neak Pean Temple

The tiny 12th-century Buddhist temple of Neak Pean (sometimes written Neak Poan or Neak Poun sits on a circular stone island in a square pool, framed by four more pools, all built on an island in the middle of a lake. The temple’s name means “entwined serpents.”

Pre Rup Temple

A favorite Angkor sunset spot, Pre Rup is a 3-tier mountain temple topped with five sanctuary towers. Built in 961 AD as a temple to the Hindu god Shiva, Pre Rup’s name means “turn the body,” and some believe it was used for cremations. Its warm brickwork and red laterite stone look beautiful at sunrise or sunset.

Angkor Thom

The sprawling temple complex of Angkor Thom, an ancient Khmer capital formerly ringed by a crocodile-infested moat, surpasses the world-famous Angkor Wat in both size and scale. Each of the site’s five gates are heralded by avenues lined with 108 deities that represent good and evil, which provide spectacular photo opportunities before you even step inside.
